.99 Cent Monday: Ain't Settlin'

My Book: Ain't Settlin': A BBW Romance is on sale right now for .99 cents. It will be on sale until friday, when it goes back to it's 2.99 price point.

Part 1 of a 3 Part Series. Part 2 and Part 3 are now available.
Holly can't wait to get out of the city and back to her aunt's ranch where things were slower and calmer. Except that it has a new foreman and he can't wait to see Holly again.

This BBW Romantic Short contains 6.5 K words of frustration, excitement and hot steamy sex that is not for the faint of heart. All characters depicted are 18 and over.

Excerpt:
She just stood there, looking every bit a fool. She didn't know what to say. Jensen grabbed ahold of her and pulled her into him, his angry lips swooping down onto hers, taking her with him. His kiss was intense and rough, his lips firm against hers, taking what he wanted. She was lost in him. Lost in his touch, his grasp firm as he assaulted her mouth. She kissed him back with that same strong passion, holding her own and before she knew it they were kissing again and again, his tongue invading her mouth, exploring her.
He pulled apart from her and looked into her eyes, "My place. Now."

Weekend Writing Warriors 8 Sentences: Autumn Ride

One of my goals is to give my audience 8 sentences by Sunday, as part of a group of Weekend Writing Warriors.

Today's excerpt is from Autumn Ride, a work I am currently working on. Enjoy!

“I thought we could use a room with a view,” She found herself gravitating towards him as he pulled the tailgate down.

The cold wrapped around her, but it couldn't cause a physical reaction. Her arousal had already done that. So when it nipped at her it only served to make her feel even more alive. She embraced it, the earthy smell of an autumn breeze filling her senses as Jason laid the blanket down. When he turned and wrapped his arms around her she found that his touch was exactly the right sensation at the right time. Jason tightened his grip on her and lifted her up onto that tailgate. She felt the urge to strip her clothing piece by piece and bare her body to him in the nippy air.

My good colleague, Nora Nix's 8 Sentences

I'm Choosing Chase and You Should Too!

 Saturday Smut.

Overall: ★★★★☆

I really enjoyed this sweet romance with a little bit of spice. But I am also an advocate for Authors being recognized and paid appropriately for their work. I think this book is worth at least 2.99 and at 1.99 Choosing Chase is a steal.

Blurb:

Just when Tess — widowed, pushing forty and carrying a few extra pounds — becomes resigned to her nonexistent sex life, her hunky young landlord makes his interest known. Tess would give anything to take Chase up on his offer for a one-night stand, but she’s afraid of ruining their friendship. She has a choice to make – one mind-blowing night with Chase or a lifetime of wondering ‘what if’.

Chase has wanted Tess for the last two years. Hell, he is head-over-heels in love with her, but he's almost a decade younger and she doesn’t take him seriously. Chase is livid when he assumes someone else has been fulfilling Tess’s needs. He wants her to see him as more than just a friend, even if it means playing down-and-dirty to prove it. But just how far will Chase go to win Tess’s heart forever?

He's a hunky yet misunderstood alpha male hero. She's a beautiful independent but gun-shy heroine. This book’s spicy sex scenes include toys, masturbation, dirty talk and lots more — all in the name of love.

Originality: ★★★★

Julie Raust manages to keep a familiar theme refreshing and engaging while she crafts a tail around a saucy BBW Cougar (I hate that word, but it applies).

Character Development/Plot: ★★★★☆
I like Tess. I want to sympathize with her. I think she is a dynamic person.  And I enjoy Chase as a character. He has a lot of complexity, is what I think more readers are looking for in a hero of a story.

There are points where the plot is predictable, but not unrealistic. I think for a short it has a pretty well developed plot but certain points could be a little better illustrated (pastry scene). Overall I give it a good, teetering on great rating.

Appearance and Editing:★★★★★

Book Cover is good, I wish a woman was in it as well, but that is a personal preference rather than a critique.

The Romance/The Sex: ★★★★☆

I felt like the author really got this. She had the right amount of development for the perfect level of romance at just the right times. The steamy parts were... Squee. Just Squee.  I felt empowered through Tess. It left me feeling more than satisfied.

(Can I just say that my poor husband has to deal with me reading romances all the time... poor guy ;). )

The Pornocaust and Dalia Daudelin's Amazing Analysis

If you didn't already know, Amazon is going through its books and censoring. A lot. This has not affected me and my writing, but it has affected my fellow authors. And I am never a fan of censorship. Even if I don't agree with the content.

So I thought, what better way to show solidarity than with a post by Dalia Daudelin!

She tells you exactly what you need to know as an author writing erotica or romance. She also explains why it is important for those of you who are readers, to remain abreast of this situation. So go ahead, check it out. She doesn't bite.

Unless you ask.

Review: Book of Beings Episode 1- Gripping and Emotional

Overall: ★★★
I wasn't sure what to expect with The Book of Beings, by Liz Seach (Free on Amazon). But what I got was an intense ride that had me up until 3 am wishing that the book hadn't ended. And that I could sleep in so I wouldn't be a zombie the next day.

Blurb:

What if your imaginary boyfriend got you pregnant--for real?

Seventeen-year old Manon knows she's not pregnant. After all, she's never had sex.

Except she is actually pregnant.

Nobody's roofied her. And probably there isn't a pervert on the loose hypodermically impregnating virgins. Manon's going to have to treat the whole thing as an act of God. Either that or an alien abduction. She can't decide which is more preposterous.

Whatever's happened, Manon may just as well give up her struggle to not be the weird girl at school. And she may as well give up on Elias, the mysterious boy who haunts her dreams.

Except it turns out Elias knows Manon's fantasies about him. In detail.

Like he's been inside her head while she's having them. . .

Originality: ★★★★

I think the entire concept is bold, especially for New Adult Fiction. A woman who is pregnant from her dreams, mysterious supernatural entanglements. A mysterious hero and an independent heroine. Seach boldly crosses religious boundaries, class lines and includes a special romantic flare.

Character Development/Plot: ★★★★

There are times when the plot goes too quickly and too slowly, the pacing is off. It stretches at times when I wish it wouldn't and other times it is too quick to understand exactly what is going on in the character's minds. That being said, over all the plot is good, almost great. Worthy of four stars.

The characters are pretty well developed, but missing that little bit extra. Especially in Elias's case. I have a feeling in future installments we will see what is going on behind the scenes in Elias's mind, but right now, it leaves a lot of wonder up to his motivations for doing what he does. Manon is well developed, but I think there could have been a better set of interactions between her and her friends as well as her enemies. Things that gave us a little more insight. Again good development, almost great.

Appearance and Editing:★★★
There were a few formatting errors, but nothing atrocious.  I do however, recommend a cover that is more encompassing of the story. Readers want to have a hint of what they are reading about.

The Romance/The Sex:

The romance feels like it comes out of nowhere. Again, I am guessing that more will be revealed in the next "episode" but I want to know now. That being said, the tension and the feelings, well, they rocked me. I clung to the book, wanting to find out what happened to Manon next. How she felt, what the consequences of her life were going to be. Definitely romantic in spots, just not always expected.

And I enjoyed it.

Autumn Ride: Cover Reveal and Excerpt.

This is my feature piece for Saturday Smut and I figured where to start but with a book cover reveal!
Saturday Smut.
Because Ain't Settlin' was so popular and because I love country western anything, I started working on a project near and dear to my heart. And the results have been phenomenal in terms of my writing evolution and my book cover skills. So I'm going to give you an excerpt. And a sneak peak at the cover! Look for Autumn Ride on October 15.

A Rodeo Princess And A Pauper Who Rides

Autumn Ride Excerpt:

“Ah, Jason. This here is the lady I was talkin’ to you about earlier, Brooke Rivers. Cylde’s Daughter.” Hank was friendly and familiar with Jason. He knew him, and from his body language, he knew him well.

“The Rodeo Princess.” He drawled a smile coming to his lips. But it wasn't the friendly kind.

Do not react. She tried to stow her irritation but she knew that it showed. Stoicism was always her weakness.

Jason tipped his cowboy hat up so that she could see his face. She couldn't help it, she immediately began assessing him, much like her father taught her. What to look for in rider, physically. He was probably a couple of years older than her, 27 or 28. At least. Not quite the young buck that Hank had described. But still, young enough that he had quite a few good years left. His stance was strong, like his grip on the bull.

I wonder what his grip would be like on me. Brooke shook the thought from her head and held out her hand to him. She didn't falter, looking him straight in the eye, and waited for his shake. He assessed her for a moment, his own eyes moving over her body. Giving her the same hard look that she knew she was giving him. He was no child. She was used to over eager, over enthusiastic, green behind the ears riders trying to get her attention. And her money. Not this one.

Words Once Spoken Has Great Potential, With a Few Issues with... Words

Overall: ★★★

Carly Drake has a compelling story with a few plot holes, and a writing style that is hard to overcome. But if you do, I promise it is worth the read. I love the world and though I wish it was in anything but first person present tense, it had me turning pages!

Authors Description:

YA meets high fantasy in this lush series debut about a girl who never quite fit in — and the reason why...

Evelyn might not love the confines of her village life, but she takes her small freedoms where she can get them. But everything changes when her parents decide it’s time for her to wed. Suddenly she loses her tunic and breeches, her bow, her horse, and gains rigid gowns, restrictive manners, and carriage rides.

The best way to escape is through her dreams, but as they become more and more real, Evelyn begins to worry that she is losing her grasp on reality. It is only when she makes two new friends that the truth is revealed: she is destined for far, far more than even she could imagine.

Originality: ★★★
Medieval England (I believe, though the setting isn't clearly laid out in the beginning), Fae and many different beings supernatural all come together. This isn't exactly original but it has an edge of something special, something that falls flat from realizing its potential.

Plot/Setting/Character Development: ★
A lot of the characters fall flat for me. They are not dimensional enough, the story isn't developed enough to really get in their shoes and, well, the things that do happen are easily predictable. That mixed with the gaping holes in plot and setting

Editing:★★★

I hate  first person present tense. I hate it. I don't think it can be written well. I don't think it is written well in this piece. Past tense would have made a big difference. And for that I can only give it four stars.

The Romance:

Somewhere between chaste and adult this work has adequate romance. I just wish that it was not quite so easy and clear cut. I would have liked a little more complexity in the story, a bit more development between the relationship between the love triangle. It deserves more. I want to root for these characters and I want to love Evie.

I recommend this work and I know it is a delightful read. Please check it out on Amazon.

However, when they find the place empty and realize that they'd arrived a day early, they're both a little worried - the house is bolted shut and the drive home is extremely unappealing, considering they'd spent the entire day trapped in a car.

Jack manages to find working lights in the backyard, and it seems like a miracle; discovering the hot tub is just a surprising bonus. Thrilled at the prospect of being warm all night - and in more ways than one - the couple waste no time jumping in.

Off the Road by Sophie Stevens (story 3):

In the third and final part, Jack and Haley have had an eventful weekend together and are on their way home, when Haley finds herself bored silly. She decides to have some fun by teasing Jack, but he isn't too pleased with her antics. He pulls over on the side of an empty road and proceeds to show her exactly how he deals with women who are a menace on the road.

An excerpt from ''Mandy and I'' by Rachel Ali

I laughed as my shot-glass tipped over on the bar counter. The Ransack Club was extremely crowded that night. The girls and I were having a fun, wild night, without our men.
My friend, Mandy, walked over, and her long legs attracted well-deserved attention from several men.
“I need another drink,” she cried, making a pretend, sulking face.
“Gay?” I asked, and she laughed in response.
Mandy was the only one in our group of friends who was single. She spent all night going around in circles, checking out all viable candidates. The ones she liked were always committed, married, or gay. It was an inside joke among our group that Mandy would find a gay man in hundreds, and ask him out.
“This night is so not going well,” Mandy screamed to be heard over the loud music.
“Just fuck the men, Mandy. We rock. We don’t need anyone by our side.”
Mandy laughed and I grabbed the bar counter as a wave of dizziness swept over me. I had way too many shots that night.
“You can say that, Amanda. You have a wonderful boyfriend waiting for you at home, and he loves you,” Mandy screamed again.
I rolled my eyes between waves of drunken happiness and dizziness. John, my boyfriend, was wonderful.
“You know what?” I cried, standing up and holding Mandy’s upper arms as I neared her. “You will one day have a nicer, sweeter, and sexier boyfriend than John.”
I smiled, and the next moment, stood shock still as Mandy leaned over and slid her lips over mine.
I stared at her, stifling a bubble of laughter from erupting from my chest. The expression on Mandy’s face however, was serious. Even in my state of drunkenness, I realized that laughing at her would hurt her feelings.
I tried to focus, but my mind was a fuzz of confusion. I had known Mandy since Kindergarten, and she had just kissed me! Is she gay? I thought wildly.
Before I could get a grip on the direction of my thoughts, Mandy slowly leaned forward again, and her soft lips pressed onto mine.
My traitorous body felt a jolt of longing. Her mouth smelled sweet, minty and fruity, I don’t really know why. Her hands were soft and dainty as they trailed up and down my arms, soothing me, caressing me.
Mandy’s lips parted and the unmistakable, wet slide of her mouth over mine sent currents of pure pleasure through my limbs. The arousal – crazy and insane – spread through my body like wildfire, and collected in a throbbing knot between my thighs.
I gasped and pulled away, our lips breaking contact. Mandy refused to let go of my arms. Her fingers were digging gently into my flesh, holding me imprisoned a few inches away from her.
Suddenly, I felt like I wasn’t in a crowded nightclub with blaring music sounding from the speakers. I was alive with the intensity of my feelings.
Mandy’s breasts were just barely touching mine. Our dresses were the only barriers between my aching nipples and hers.
I don’t know what came over me, but I saw Mandy differently than I did a minute ago.
The door crashed behind me as I stepped into Mandy’s apartment. Everything was a blur. All I knew and cared about was that Mandy and I were alone, and that I wanted her to see me naked.
My green dress had a long zipper down the back, and while Mandy’s lips hungrily took mine, I was aware of her hand groping for the zipper.
Her breath was harsh, her hands shaky, and everything about her reaction was mind-blowing. I knew she was aroused. I could sense it, smell it in the air. Mandy’s fingers jerked at my dress and it fell open, sliding down my body and landing around my stiletto-clad feet.
That’s when she pulled away a few feet, and her eyes dipped down to my tits. That’s when the cold air hit my too-heated skin, and I realized that I was actually standing in the middle of Mandy’s apartment, wearing nothing but a tiny thong and a pair of shoes.
My brain told me this was wrong, but the wetness between my legs urged me to stay, see this though. I could feel the sticky pre-cum sliding out of my pussy, wetting it. My pussy lips were burning, tingling as they contracted with urgency.
“Amanda?” Mandy whispered, and I gasped. In my state of arousal, her soft whisper sounded wonderful. It added fuel to the already raging fire in my groin.
Slowly, she reached behind her own back and undid her dress, letting it fall at her feet. She slid off her shoes, and then her strapless bra. Her breasts fell free, heavy and pink-peaked, and her tiny waist was delectable.
I didn’t know what was wrong with me. Mandy was my friend, but I ached to touch her, hold her tits in my palms and crush them tightly.
I couldn’t wait any longer, and following her footsteps, I leaned down and undid the straps on my stilettos.
My breasts fell forward as I bent, swaying gently, and I could feel her warm gaze roving over them.
With a gasp of wanton urgency, Mandy stepped forward and her breasts were crushed against mine.
I moaned aloud, my mouth finding hers and parting over the soft, full contours. Her tongue plunged wetly in my mouth, and I gave her mine.
Her fingers were digging into my back and sliding over me, touching me, heating me more and more. I couldn’t breathe. I was wild. I slid my hands between our bodies and clasped her tits, squeezing them.
“Oh! Oh! Amanda!” she whispered harshly in my mouth between our wet kiss. Her tongue slid against mine, tangling while I let my palms rove over her beasts.
Her nipples were hard and erect, tightened into buds that flipped back and forth as I caressed them. Her hands slid down my back, clasping my ass-cheeks, and I ground them against her crotch.
My bush slid against hers, and she slid her fingers between my ass-cheeks, finding my thong and tugging it out.
”Mandy!” I cried out, tightening my hips, letting her touch me, scorch me. “Touch me! Please, Mandy. Touch me,” I gasped.
At my words, I could tell that she gained encouragement. Her hands slid between my ass-cheeks, stroking my asshole. It had puckered up and tightened with need, and before I had a chance to do or say anything further, her soft fingertip caressed my back hole.
My head fell back and our mouths lost contact. She watched my face as I cried and moaned, grinding my hips, swaying them back and forth as if I had a cock filling my pussy.
I wanted to be filled. I wanted her fingers inside me, thrusting back and froth. I was dripping juices heavily, and the wetness was sliding down my inner thigh.

Showing off: Flowers shows us so much. And leaves us wanting even more.

Overall: ★★★★★

Another win in the I hit the review jackpot. Virginia Flowers lent me this naughty tale so that I could review it. I went into it a little reluctant. Voyeurism is not so much my thing, but god damn if she didn't convert me with Showing Off.

Blurb:
Getting naked is like falling in love...

Compared with her best friend, Jen, Erica feels like a failure at love. Her ten year marriage ended in divorce when she found her husband fooling around with another man. Her dating life is stuck in neutral at best, and often reverse. And now she's discovered she becomes incredibly aroused and turned on when she is flashing parts of her body best left hidden behind closed doors.
Jen, however, has plans for Erica and wants to set her up with her husband's handsome and charming co-worker, Tyler. He's a great guy, even if he can't tolerate the fact she enjoys revealing her nether regions to random strangers in public places. But when Erica bumps into a mystery man at the cemetery, tall, dark and handsome with perfect dimples, she's faced with a difficult choice.
Why does Tyler feel so right and yet so wrong? And why is she so attracted to Michael, the handsome "Mr. Dimples" who reminds her so much of her perfect fantasy man, but who is clearly grieving over the loss of his own wife, who was his one true love? Can Michael ever be expected to love her for herself and not compare her to the former Mrs. Dimples?
Will she give up exhibitionism for the nice guy? Or trample down the path of erotic explorations with the mystery man who may not be able to overcome his love for his dearly departed wife?

Originality: ★★★★

I've not looking too much into the voyeurism aspect of erotica. So while I know that there is a lot out there, I don't know the specifics. But I will say this. To combine voyeurism, sex-positivism, grief and loss, and erotic romance takes a special skill. Flowers has it all. She is witty, sexy and down right naughty with this book. Making me thirst for more.

Character Development: ★★★★
The idea of healing after a divorce or a loss is so real in this one, so poignant, that I could completely sympathize with the characters. I was totally routing for the characters throughout the book. I wanted to see what and how they were going to change over time. And I wasn't disappointed. Erica, well you could see her heal before your eyes. And the number of struggles here was enough to make it a solid five star review.

Appearance and Editing:★★★

Exceptional. Very impressed with the level of professionalism. The cover is sexy and straight to the point and the editing is flawless.

The Romance/The Sex:

Ahem. This is steamy on so many levels. Not just with the sex. The tension, erotic and romantic is out of the part on this one. I found myself rushing through because I wanted to know what happened next. I needed to know more about Michael. About Erica. Hell I even wanted to learn about Jen. This was hot. But it was also endearing. So much sex, but it is seamless and hot. I think it has just the right amount of romance to sex balance for a slightly steamy read on the train that has you feeling a little like you are Showing Off.
