Raethiana: The Succubus Who Sucked Me In

Overall: ★★★ (4.75 Stars)

I love anything paranormal or fantasy with an action plot. This one covers both the sexy aspects and the action! John Dylena's Portrayl of "John" as he went from, well, kind of a loser, to a "man" of action was extraordinary. I'm usually not a fan of the male driven voice in erotica, but this is really well done and it includes quite a bit of female perspective as well.

The novelization of the "Raethiana Trilogy", Raethiana contains all three books (The Demon at my Door, The Demon in my Heart, & The Demon in my Soul) in addition to a foreword written by the books editor: Nora Nix.
A shy and introverted young man, John is shocked when he manages to leave a bar with the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. It's a dream come true... until they get back to his apartment and he discovers that the woman is a succubus, and he's her next meal.
When John survives the sensual ritual meant to sate the demon's supernatural appetite, she decides not only to stay the night, but to move in as his new roommate and introduce him to her world; a realm full of demons, magic, and a discovery that will change his life forever.
For adults only! Contains the following themes: demons, magic, transformation, gender change, lesbian sex, straight straight sex, orgy, domination, submission
60,000 words

Originality: ★★★

I never considered a succubus that can't suck the soul out of someone. I never thought about one who came to live with you, regardless of your desires. And I certainly didn't think of all the adventures these two had together. I think it is original, well written, and full of new ideas. The world building alone was well done enough to give it five stars (in my book).

Character Development/Plot: ★★★

John's character John is developed really well, multifaceted and believable. As he changes and throughout the novel/series I find myself rooting for him. Hoping that he can come to terms with who he really is, and that the two interests will get together in the end.

My only complaint is that I feel some of the development is a bit rushed. I want more back story on the conflict of the major action plot. I want to see the ways in which the rebellion affects the world. I want to know more about Raethiana's history. I want to know more about her slave, about what drives her. About why she exists the way she is. It is because I want to know more about these things I think Dylena should write a sequel! I really loved the book.

Appearance and Editing:★★

Professional and well done. I love the cover and I think the writing is suburb.

The Romance/The Sex:

7.99 is completely worth it for the level of kinky gender bending and gender swapping sex in this story. I was hot under the collar the whole time I was reading this. I wanted to read this for the sex, to be quite honest, but I stayed with it for the romance, which had me turning page after page.

New Release: Naughty News: Breaking In The Reporter

.99 Cents on Amazon for a limited time only.

Mia wasn't about to be shown up by a bunch of men.

Mia was a damn good writer, and she knew it. Too bad she was in a male dominated industry, and her boss was always breathing down her neck. She refused to be overlooked, so she made herself a priority. Until the boss made conquering her body a priority of his own.

James was a sexy and commanding editor, one that pushed his writers to their limits. But Mia pushed him to his own.

This sexy 4,500 word short story shows just who is in charge at the news firm.

She sank her teeth into his lower lip with a growl. If he wasn’t going to play nice, neither was she. The scrape of her teeth against his lips sent him into a frenzy. He pushed a hand up through her shirt and grabbed her breast, giving it a hard squeeze before entering her bra. His grip was rough as he pinched her nipple, tugging downward until she squealed. If only she could have just a little bit more of him. She tasted his mouth, sampled it with her own tongue, pressing her body against his. Mia clearly wanted this. Wanted him.

Say "Yes!" to the Rogue's proposal

Overall: ★★★ (4 Stars)

I've been binge reading lately, and my two favorite areas are Paranormal and Historical. This one fits into the later category and man does it deliver.

The Rogue's Proposal can be found on Amazon.

Lukas Hawkins, the second son of the troubled House of Trent, is on a mission: find his missing mother and her alleged kidnapper, a brute named Roger Morton. If bringing the villain to justice means breaking a few laws, then so be it. But when he encounters a mysterious stranger with the face of an angel and a body made for sin, Luke suddenly finds his task-and his heart-in peril.

Emma Curtis knows of Lord Lukas's rakish reputation-and hopes to use it to her advantage. While most men of honor would never travel alone with an unmarried woman, Luke is quite willing to take Emma on the road . . . and into his bed. As their journey carries them to unexpected places, Luke and Emma indulge their every passion and share their most private fantasies. But just when their deepest desires are finally within reach, a secret is revealed that threatens to end their love forever . . .

Originality: ★★★

Regency romance is one of my favorites. And this does not disappoint. Rather than focusing on the heir of an aristocratic family, Haymore focuses on the "troubled" younger brother. *Swoon*. One of my favorite topics, and the fact that the heroine isn't aristocracy makes it even better. I love stories that aren't about the most privileged of the privileged, even if wealth is involved.

Character Development/Plot: ★★★

I really liked the Character development and the plot, although I feel like some things are left unresolved (as part of a trope). But it was a bit predictable. I don't mind that too much, but it is the reason I knocked off a star.

I also liked the way the main Hero developed. I was impressed with his growth over the course of the book. I feel for him, and I can see his plight. I thought she did a good job of ensuring that the readers would have empathy for him.

Appearance and Editing:★★

Cover is a bit outdated (think 80's romance), but I love it. Editing is professional.

The Romance/The Sex:

Steamy, sometimes a bit too steamy a bit too soon, but overall well worth the price tag (6.84 on Amazon). I felt myself swooning as they came together (literally and figuratively). I highly recommend.

I've fallen under the spell of the Mys

Overall: ★★★★ (4.5 Stars)

I powered through this book. Seriously, could not get enough. It wasn't perfect, don't get me wrong, there were some plot holes, but it had all the right elements.

A fresh, meaty, sink-your-teeth-in-and-hold-on-tight new adult fantasy series kicks off with King Hall…

King Hall — where the Mysticals go to learn their craft, get their degrees, and transition into adulthood. And where four new Rulers will rise and meet their destinies.

Lily Ruckler is adept at one thing: survival. Born a Mystical hybrid, her mere existence is forbidden, but her nightmare is only about to start. Fluke, happenstance, and a deep personal loss finds Lily deeply entrenched with those who would destroy her simply for existing — The Mystical Kings. Being named future Queen of the Shifters shoves Lily into the spotlight, making her one of the most visible Mysticals in the world. But with risk comes a certain solace — her burgeoning friendships with the other three Rulers: a wicked Vampire, a wild-child Mage, and a playboy Elemental. Backed by their faith and trust, Lily begins to relax into her new life.

Then chaos erupts as the fragile peace between Commoners and Mysticals is broken, and suddenly Lily realises the greatest threat was never from within, and her fear takes on a new name: the Revolution.

Originality: ★★★

Shifters, Vampires, and Mages have been done. And done. And done again. To the point where my 62 year old mother bought me a t-shirt and messenger bag that had a Vampire, a Shifter, and a boring shell of a girl on it because she heard it was "cool". But Scarlett Dawn turns those boring plot lines on their head with the way she frames this academy and the many Mysticals that live there. I was so excited as I read, because I found a new set of characters to root for. And a ton of emotional drops that left me feeling all kinds of ways.

And I needed something that made me feel that way.

Character Development/Plot: ★★★

I love the character development. I love the way Dawn has each character grow and change as challenges get in their way. Lily is superbly written, has a great voice and agency. I can't wait to read more and more about her as I go through the series. And believe me, I am hanging on for the whole ride.

There were some plot-holes, and I can't help but point them out. I felt like there should be a prequel to this book because at times, well, I felt lost. I know that she intentionally wrote it that way, but that being said, I just felt like enough wasn't explained up front and it could be confusing to younger New Adult readers who are not quite so patient.

Appearance and Editing:★★

Cover is beautiful. Editing is professional.

The Romance/The Sex:

Beautiful, and sad. I loved the chemistry between her and the two love interests. I won't spoil it for you, but I will tell you it is worth reading about.

Along Comes Trouble Has Some Trouble

Overall: ★★★☆ 2.5 Stars

I hate to review a book that begins with a bad review with a bad review. But, I just wasn't into this one. I felt like it had some really really promising moments, but other times it fell flat. And I had to adjust my star rating accordingly.

You can find the description on Amazon.

Originality: ★★★

I like the idea. I do. I like the thought of two people coming together over food and photography. But a lot of the story was very predictable (I will get to that later) and it really knocked the originality down for me.

Character Development/Plot: ★★★

I liked the individual development of the characters... but the overall plot was filled with a lot of holes. I thought starting out with a bad review was a bad idea. I was bored before I even got to the 2nd page. I forced myself to push onward, however, because I wanted to root for the author. I wanted to like this book. But the descriptions drug out, there wasn't as much high stakes drama as their could have been, and at times I felt like I was reading a diary rather than an actual novel. Paragraph after paragraph of feelings and back and forth.

Show, don't tell. Show.

And the predictability... well I knew who Kelly was and what her purpose was as soon as she showed up in the novel. I thought it was too forced, coincidental and threw the entire story off for me. It didn't add an extra element, it just forced me to admit the 4th wall.

Appearance and Editing:★★

The cover really really knocked me off balance here. I picked it up because I thought it was going to be country, not about a restaurateur's son and a photographer who have very little to do with the Wyoming countryside. I imagined  more country scenes and a beautiful landscape to backdrop their jobs and lives. But it didn't. It felt like it was just there to pull in people who like country contemporary, but never really touched it.

The Romance/The Sex:

The chemistry doesn't feel natural. It doesn't develop naturally at all. You have two people, an over sexualization of each of them in each other's minds, and then no real push towards each other. I skipped whole paragraphs (that I never even missed), trying to get to their conversations to feel that chemistry... and it was just a big bunch of nothin'.
