.99 Cent Monday: Ain't Settlin'

My Book: Ain't Settlin': A BBW Romance is on sale right now for .99 cents. It will be on sale until friday, when it goes back to it's 2.99 price point.

Part 1 of a 3 Part Series. Part 2 and Part 3 are now available.
Holly can't wait to get out of the city and back to her aunt's ranch where things were slower and calmer. Except that it has a new foreman and he can't wait to see Holly again.

This BBW Romantic Short contains 6.5 K words of frustration, excitement and hot steamy sex that is not for the faint of heart. All characters depicted are 18 and over.

Excerpt:
She just stood there, looking every bit a fool. She didn't know what to say. Jensen grabbed ahold of her and pulled her into him, his angry lips swooping down onto hers, taking her with him. His kiss was intense and rough, his lips firm against hers, taking what he wanted. She was lost in him. Lost in his touch, his grasp firm as he assaulted her mouth. She kissed him back with that same strong passion, holding her own and before she knew it they were kissing again and again, his tongue invading her mouth, exploring her.
He pulled apart from her and looked into her eyes, "My place. Now."

Weekend Writing Warriors 8 Sentences: Autumn Ride

One of my goals is to give my audience 8 sentences by Sunday, as part of a group of Weekend Writing Warriors.

Today's excerpt is from Autumn Ride, a work I am currently working on. Enjoy!

“I thought we could use a room with a view,” She found herself gravitating towards him as he pulled the tailgate down.

The cold wrapped around her, but it couldn't cause a physical reaction. Her arousal had already done that. So when it nipped at her it only served to make her feel even more alive. She embraced it, the earthy smell of an autumn breeze filling her senses as Jason laid the blanket down. When he turned and wrapped his arms around her she found that his touch was exactly the right sensation at the right time. Jason tightened his grip on her and lifted her up onto that tailgate. She felt the urge to strip her clothing piece by piece and bare her body to him in the nippy air.

My good colleague, Nora Nix's 8 Sentences

I'm Choosing Chase and You Should Too!

 Saturday Smut.

Overall: ★★★★☆

I really enjoyed this sweet romance with a little bit of spice. But I am also an advocate for Authors being recognized and paid appropriately for their work. I think this book is worth at least 2.99 and at 1.99 Choosing Chase is a steal.

Blurb:

Just when Tess — widowed, pushing forty and carrying a few extra pounds — becomes resigned to her nonexistent sex life, her hunky young landlord makes his interest known. Tess would give anything to take Chase up on his offer for a one-night stand, but she’s afraid of ruining their friendship. She has a choice to make – one mind-blowing night with Chase or a lifetime of wondering ‘what if’.

Chase has wanted Tess for the last two years. Hell, he is head-over-heels in love with her, but he's almost a decade younger and she doesn’t take him seriously. Chase is livid when he assumes someone else has been fulfilling Tess’s needs. He wants her to see him as more than just a friend, even if it means playing down-and-dirty to prove it. But just how far will Chase go to win Tess’s heart forever?

He's a hunky yet misunderstood alpha male hero. She's a beautiful independent but gun-shy heroine. This book’s spicy sex scenes include toys, masturbation, dirty talk and lots more — all in the name of love.

Originality: ★★★★

Julie Raust manages to keep a familiar theme refreshing and engaging while she crafts a tail around a saucy BBW Cougar (I hate that word, but it applies).

Character Development/Plot: ★★★★☆
I like Tess. I want to sympathize with her. I think she is a dynamic person.  And I enjoy Chase as a character. He has a lot of complexity, is what I think more readers are looking for in a hero of a story.

There are points where the plot is predictable, but not unrealistic. I think for a short it has a pretty well developed plot but certain points could be a little better illustrated (pastry scene). Overall I give it a good, teetering on great rating.

Appearance and Editing:★★★★★

Book Cover is good, I wish a woman was in it as well, but that is a personal preference rather than a critique.

The Romance/The Sex: ★★★★☆

I felt like the author really got this. She had the right amount of development for the perfect level of romance at just the right times. The steamy parts were... Squee. Just Squee.  I felt empowered through Tess. It left me feeling more than satisfied.

(Can I just say that my poor husband has to deal with me reading romances all the time... poor guy ;). )

The Pornocaust and Dalia Daudelin's Amazing Analysis

If you didn't already know, Amazon is going through its books and censoring. A lot. This has not affected me and my writing, but it has affected my fellow authors. And I am never a fan of censorship. Even if I don't agree with the content.

So I thought, what better way to show solidarity than with a post by Dalia Daudelin!

She tells you exactly what you need to know as an author writing erotica or romance. She also explains why it is important for those of you who are readers, to remain abreast of this situation. So go ahead, check it out. She doesn't bite.

Unless you ask.

Review: Book of Beings Episode 1- Gripping and Emotional

Overall: ★★★
I wasn't sure what to expect with The Book of Beings, by Liz Seach (Free on Amazon). But what I got was an intense ride that had me up until 3 am wishing that the book hadn't ended. And that I could sleep in so I wouldn't be a zombie the next day.

Blurb:

What if your imaginary boyfriend got you pregnant--for real?

Seventeen-year old Manon knows she's not pregnant. After all, she's never had sex.

Except she is actually pregnant.

Nobody's roofied her. And probably there isn't a pervert on the loose hypodermically impregnating virgins. Manon's going to have to treat the whole thing as an act of God. Either that or an alien abduction. She can't decide which is more preposterous.

Whatever's happened, Manon may just as well give up her struggle to not be the weird girl at school. And she may as well give up on Elias, the mysterious boy who haunts her dreams.

Except it turns out Elias knows Manon's fantasies about him. In detail.

Like he's been inside her head while she's having them. . .

Originality: ★★★★

I think the entire concept is bold, especially for New Adult Fiction. A woman who is pregnant from her dreams, mysterious supernatural entanglements. A mysterious hero and an independent heroine. Seach boldly crosses religious boundaries, class lines and includes a special romantic flare.

Character Development/Plot: ★★★★

There are times when the plot goes too quickly and too slowly, the pacing is off. It stretches at times when I wish it wouldn't and other times it is too quick to understand exactly what is going on in the character's minds. That being said, over all the plot is good, almost great. Worthy of four stars.

The characters are pretty well developed, but missing that little bit extra. Especially in Elias's case. I have a feeling in future installments we will see what is going on behind the scenes in Elias's mind, but right now, it leaves a lot of wonder up to his motivations for doing what he does. Manon is well developed, but I think there could have been a better set of interactions between her and her friends as well as her enemies. Things that gave us a little more insight. Again good development, almost great.

Appearance and Editing:★★★
There were a few formatting errors, but nothing atrocious.  I do however, recommend a cover that is more encompassing of the story. Readers want to have a hint of what they are reading about.

The Romance/The Sex:

The romance feels like it comes out of nowhere. Again, I am guessing that more will be revealed in the next "episode" but I want to know now. That being said, the tension and the feelings, well, they rocked me. I clung to the book, wanting to find out what happened to Manon next. How she felt, what the consequences of her life were going to be. Definitely romantic in spots, just not always expected.

And I enjoyed it.

Autumn Ride: Cover Reveal and Excerpt.

This is my feature piece for Saturday Smut and I figured where to start but with a book cover reveal!
Saturday Smut.
Because Ain't Settlin' was so popular and because I love country western anything, I started working on a project near and dear to my heart. And the results have been phenomenal in terms of my writing evolution and my book cover skills. So I'm going to give you an excerpt. And a sneak peak at the cover! Look for Autumn Ride on October 15.

A Rodeo Princess And A Pauper Who Rides

Autumn Ride Excerpt:

“Ah, Jason. This here is the lady I was talkin’ to you about earlier, Brooke Rivers. Cylde’s Daughter.” Hank was friendly and familiar with Jason. He knew him, and from his body language, he knew him well.

“The Rodeo Princess.” He drawled a smile coming to his lips. But it wasn't the friendly kind.

Do not react. She tried to stow her irritation but she knew that it showed. Stoicism was always her weakness.

Jason tipped his cowboy hat up so that she could see his face. She couldn't help it, she immediately began assessing him, much like her father taught her. What to look for in rider, physically. He was probably a couple of years older than her, 27 or 28. At least. Not quite the young buck that Hank had described. But still, young enough that he had quite a few good years left. His stance was strong, like his grip on the bull.

I wonder what his grip would be like on me. Brooke shook the thought from her head and held out her hand to him. She didn't falter, looking him straight in the eye, and waited for his shake. He assessed her for a moment, his own eyes moving over her body. Giving her the same hard look that she knew she was giving him. He was no child. She was used to over eager, over enthusiastic, green behind the ears riders trying to get her attention. And her money. Not this one.
